Meet The Team
Anita (Founder & Lead Vocal Coach)
Founder of A Major Music Academy
Anita’s passion for singing began in childhood, setting her on a path through formal music studies to the rewarding work as a vocal coach. She has coached singers of all ages and levels, from beginners to seasoned performers, building within them strong technique, expressive power, and lasting confidence. With a warm, holistic approach, Anita helps students overcome self-doubt, embrace their unique voice, and achieve greater vocal freedom, range, and authentic self-expression.
As a parent, Anita fills her home with music. She believes introducing young children to timeless nursery rhymes, such as those in the Mother Goose tradition, creates a joyful foundation in melody, rhythm, and creativity that lasts a lifetime.
Born and raised in Kyoto, Japan, Anita taught herself Portuguese at age 18 to study in Brazil. There she studied Bossa Nova and Jazz at the Conservatório Musical Souza Lima, São Paulo (a feeder school for Berklee College of Music). After graduating, she moved to Melbourne and in 2015 earned a BMus (Jazz & Contemporary Performance) and a Diploma in Languages from Monash University. Estill Voice Training certified, she directs A Major Music Academy and continues as a singer-songwriter.
Karina
Bachelor of Music (Melbourne Polytechnic)
High Distinction Graduate
Karina is a performer and songwriter with experience across a range of genres, including Latin music.
She is passionate about helping students express themselves creatively and build confidence through singing.
Karina’s teaching style focuses on both technique and emotional connection, helping students develop their voice while also connecting with the music they sing.
She creates an engaging and supportive environment where students feel encouraged to explore their creativity and grow in confidence.
Karina, born and raised in Santiago de Chile, is a passionate musician with extensive experience in Latin bands and solo performances. Since moving to Melbourne in 2014, she has become a prominent figure in the local music scene, captivating audiences with her soulful voice.
Isaac
Bachelor of Music (Monash University)
Specialising in Popular Voice
Isaac is an experienced vocalist and teacher with a strong background in pop, soul, RnB, jazz, and music theatre.
He focuses on developing vocal technique while helping students build confidence and performance skills.
Isaac brings a practical and encouraging approach to teaching, helping students feel comfortable while improving their voice.
With experience across multiple styles and performance settings, he supports students in developing both technical ability and stage presence, tailoring lessons to suit each individual’s goals and musical interests.
Isaac has performed in quite a lengthy list of musicals. He also comes with the experience of vocally directing an a cappella group for a number of years, along with along with several stage productions.
Jess
Bachelor of Contemporary Music Performance (Australian Institute of Music)
Major in Voice
Jess creates a fun, relaxed, and supportive environment where students can build confidence and enjoy singing. She helps students develop both technical skills and emotional expression.
With a background in contemporary music, Jess works with students to connect with their voice and develop their own unique style. Her lessons focus on making singing enjoyable while steadily building confidence, control, and performance ability.
Jess has been singing since age 13, with over 10 years of vocal training. She also plays piano/keyboard, and clarinet. A member of Melbourne Indie Voices Choir for nearly three years, she excels in vocal harmonies. Her studies at the Australian Institute of Music (AIM) further developed her versatile skills across contemporary, indie, folk, R&B, soul, and other genres, along with strong foundations in theory, aural, songwriting, and instrumental performance.
As our Academy’s Administrative Assistant, Jess is committed to supporting you and creating a welcoming, enriching experience as you join our Academy and pursue your singing aspirations.
Jon Levy
Music Production & Sound Engineer
Jon Levy, our sound engineer, supports the Academy during our A Major Music Academy concerts. This benefits our singers’ personal recordings of their performances.
Jon graduated in Music Production and Engineering at Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA. A versatile singer-songwriter and producer, his body of work includes composing the theme for the ongoing Japanese documentary Where We Call Home (which started airing in 2020).
As a singer, he has performed in Japan, South Korea, America, and Australia, featuring both acoustic and electric guitar in his solo shows. He has served with his gift of music on stages, in live houses, at Billboard Live, at corporate events, with bands, at weddings, in hospitals, in 5-star hotel lobby lounges, in pubs, in churches, on radio, and in recording studios.
Daniel Levy
Photographer, Videographer
Daniel Levy uses his photography and videography skills to capture on-stage performances during our A Major Music Academy concerts, providing media packages for our performers.
Although being Australian/Kiwi, he speaks with an accent that comes across as Canadian. This is complemented by his strong involvement in ice hockey.
Daniel has supported those in the music industry, where he has documented full album production processes in the studio, captured promotional photography, taken shots used for an album cover, and produced teaser videos for artists. Being a former member of his secondary school choir, he continues to find deep enjoyment in singing.
